Malakas at Maganda
The legendary Filipino first man and woman, Malakas at Maganda, are nestled in a man-made lagoon at the foot of the waterfalls. These were done by sculptors Verano and Flores.
It is written in Philippine legends that when the earth was young and no man or woman walked the land, a great bird heard a curious sound emanating from a gigantic bamboo trunk. The bamboo split open from the bird’s constant pecking… And the first man, “Malakas”, and the first woman, “Maganda”, stepped out.
