Florante at Laura
This sculpture was crafted by sculptor Francisco Bulaong.
This depicted the immortal epic of Francisco “Balagtas” Baltazar’ (1788-1862) and considered as one of the masterpieces of Philippine Literature. He wrote the epic during his imprisonment.
It reflected the Philippines during his time, and also dealt with the relationship between God and man, parents and children, citizens and state, lovers and sweethearts, persons of varying religious creeds, and nobility of man. The work itself was dedicated to Maria Asuncion Rivera, his sweetheart.
